from Microsoft has released a new optional update for Windows 10 as part of its typical preview program that provides users with an early look at what’s to come in the next Patch Tuesday cycle.

Windows 10 cumulative update KB5016688, therefore, comes with improvements that will go live for all users on the September Patch Tuesday cycle – for the time being, users who want to download the update need to manually check for updates in Windows Update.

KB5016688 is aimed at the latest Windows 10 versions still getting support from Microsoft, so it increases the OS build numbers to 19042.1949, 19043.1949, and 19044.1949.
