from Microsoft has acknowledged a new bug in Windows 10, and this time, it breaks down the audio on devices running the operating system.
The glitch is caused by the late-July and newer cumulative updates for Windows 10, with Microsoft explaining in a recent update on the Windows Health Dashboard that the issue has different behavior on some devices.
In other words, while the audio could be completely broken on some computers, others could still have the sound but only in certain applications.
“After installing KB5015878 or later updates, some Windows devices might have issues with audio not working. Some affected Windows devices might have no audio, but other affected Windows devices might only have issues on certain ports, certain audio devices or only within certain applications. Most affected audio devices drivers have the "audio enhancements" setting disabled before installing KB5015878 or the sound device driver has issues with the "audio enhancements" feature,” ...
