New Shenmue Anime Adaptation Development Details - IGN The Fix: Entertainment

It was announced they would be working on Shenmue: The Animation, based on the cult classic 1999 Dreamcast game. Responding to a fan’s post about what happened to the Shenmue anime, VP and Creative Director, Jason DeMarco, at Adult Swim said, “It’s coming along great! Can’t wait until we can start sharing more of it, but I’m happy.” This confirms that Shenmue The Animation is still on its way, with Crunchyroll and Adult Swim’s collaboration in bringing the Sega Dreamcast cult classic to life in anime form. It’s likely we’ll see Shenmue: The Animation sooner than later, as producer Yuu Kiyozono has said production on the anime was in development 2-3 years during the time of Shenmue 3’s production and release. In other video game adjacent news, writer and producer Craig Mazin has an update on HBO’s The Last of Us series! Reported on Culture Crave, Mazin revealed the episode count and the amount of directors attached for the first season of The Last of Us while on the Scriptnotes podcast. And finally, The New Zealand Herald reported that at least three stunt performers on Amazon’s Lord of the Rings have been seriously injured, with one case resulting in a half a million dollar payment. The New Zealand Herald also reported that sources on the set have said they don’t feel Amazon is taking their concerns about safety standards seriously.
